What is the connection between the genre of music people listen to and their personalities?
Music influences and reflects our personality, and ultimately shows who we are through our feelings regarding certain songs. In addition, it regulates our emotions and gives us a sense of identity.
Music influences and reflects our personality. For example, “The choice of a particular musical genre is driven mostly by our social identity” (Dr. Tomas Chamorro). Which means, social identity shows a sense of who we are by the groupings we are in or the type of music we listen too. In addition, “By wearing particular clothes, going to certain pubs, and using certain types of slang” shows who or the type of person you are, “so it's not so surprising that personality should be related to musical preference” (Professor Adrian North). Just like the saying “Tell me who you hangout with, and I’ll tell you who you are.” the certain things you do reflect on who you are, the same thing when it comes to music and the type of genre you listen. If you listen to rap or Hip-hop you use a certain type of slang, dress differently, etc. Music influences your identity just like how it does with your feelings.
Ever get in a certain mood when you listen to a song? If so, it’s because we have an emotional connection with that particular song, a connection that we don’t intentionally mean to have. “Deep down we know that our taste in music is not just a reflection of our musical preference but also insight into the very essence of who we are” (North). A song may bring a piece of your inner feelings, without you even knowing it's happening, your mood switches immediately. Meaning, certain types of music can get you sad quickly even when you’re in a good mood by having that mental and emotional connection.
Music brings out a piece of your inner self, which people may not understand or get protective with what they feel. “People use music for a scientific understanding of music preferences should provide a perfect window to a person’s soul!” (Dr Tomas Chamorro). Some people put up a “front”, puts a shield over their true identity, because who they really aren’t as appealing to themselves. “I feel more sensitive if I listen to sad music, I’m gonna get sad, feel weak, and be vulnerable and I don’t like it’’ (S. Alvarado, Interview). Therefore, when you listen to a certain song everything starts to come out your thoughts, emotions, what you're feeling, a memory regarding the song, etc. Reveals a piece of your inner self.
In addition, the music people listen to can be influenced and reflected on how they act. Just by listening to certain songs you can be encouraged on doing stuff, if you feel the vibe in the song or artist you would want to feel the same adrenaline. It also brings out a sense of who you are and what you're feeling, a song gives us a sneak peek into what you're feeling. Music has a big impact in our personality.

What is the connection between the genre of music people listen to and their personalities?
The connection between the genre of music people listen to and their personalities is the music we listened to before still affects us today, we use music to regulate our emotions. It shows who we are through music and feeling when to listen to music we defend the music we listen to because it defines us.
The music we grow up with still affects us till this day. In Gracie interview (BI ), it says, “my personal connection with music is like a way I grew up with it.” This shows the readers that everyone who listens to music had a connection with it when we grow up it explains us and for people to say they still have the connection with the music they listened to when they were young basically are trying to say the still have feeling for the song they use to listen to.People might have a connection with the music they listened to when they were young because the type of music they listened to when they were young brings back old memories, memories that mean stuff to them. Gracie Interviewer (BI) says, “Has a connection on my music through memories of childhood. This shows that all the music she listen to as a child has memories with her and it relates to her and makes her feel good. The point of this is that basically the music we listen to before still affects us today.
The way we feel when listening to music is us. in Gracie Interview (BI) the interviewee says, “ Feeling more sensitive is I listen to sad music I'm going to get sad.”This shows that when she said she listen to sadder music instead of happy music because it's the way she feels and if shes sad shes sad maybe sad music can help her cheer up a little bit also if she's sad she wouldn't want to listen to music that people are happy in because it will make her feel even worse. People can totally relate to this because when they are hyped they listen to songs that will keep them hyped not no sad song that will bring them down they listen to music that will make them feel good.In grace article, the author says, “ Music is thinking out loud without even saying anything.”This explains that you have music in your mind that just explains you.
Music shows we are through words. In gracie article, the author says, “deep down we know that our taste in music is not just a reflection of our musical preference but also insight into the way essence into who we are.” This explains basically the music we listen to even if we don't tell people but deep down it means something to us and we listen to it for the reason. People listen to music that they really like that Some people don't even know about, but some people don't show who they really are but the music they listen to shows them. Another quote from garcie article the author says, “people actually define themselves through music. Some people listen to music that defines them and shows who they are the way people dress can show who they are if they dress like drake and stuff like that they usually listen to hip-hop.
We defend the music we listen to because we love it? In garcie article, it says, “Some people can get defensive on the type of music they listen to because it's their outlook on life.”Some people express the way they are through music so u making fun of their music can really get someone pissed off because it might just music to you but to them its their life and outlook on life. In veronica article, it says, “Our music choice reflects an important aspect of our personality and can reveal our inner thoughts and feelings.” This is like most people they listen to music that means something and reveals them, but some people are scared to reveal their inner self by talking so they do it in music.
The connection between music and personalities is all connected because the music people listen to is what defines them and makes them who they are .Music can explain who you are without saying anything.Without music, life will be honestly bad for people because they wouldn't get to explain who they are and with music you can explain yourself very easy.
